Egypt, the Land of the Nile, is a beautiful, mysterious, diverse, stylish and friendly country.  

Beautiful.  It is a breathtaking ride down the Nile on a felucca boat as one gazes at the sand dunes, palm trees, villages and Ancient archeological sites along the way.  The clear blue waters and the colorful array of coral and fish of the Red Sea are spectacular.   A green oasis in the golden Sahara desert is not just a mirage.  Egypt is a beautiful country.

Mysterious.  Civilization began in Egypt over five millenniums ago.  The Pharaohs of Ancient Egypt produced magnificent temples, statutes, arts and crafts.  They immortalized themselves in tombs filled with thrones, jewels, beautiful paintings and hieroglyphics and tombs containing their mummified flesh.  It is from these artifacts that we are able to piece together this intriguing and mysterious society.

Diverse.  Geographically located in Africa, but a part of the Middle East, Egypt is occupied by people of many cultures and religions.  Prayer calls from Muslim mosques can be heard everywhere.  The Coptic Christian church began in Egypt.  Moses received the Ten Commandments on Mt. Sinai.  As one walks down the busy streets in Cairo, they will pass Muslim women dressed in black dresses and veils, modern Egyptian women dressed in the latest styles, men dressed in long robes and turbans, westerners wearing shorts and t-shirts.   Outside of the city, one may find the Bedouin nomads of the desert, the Fellahin farmers in the Nile Valley, and the Nubians who live along the Nile south of Aswan.

Stylish: As evidenced by Cleopatra, the Egyptian people have sophistication and style.  Just walk down the streets of Cairo or Luxor, and you will agree.

Friendly.  Welcome.  Where are you from?  Italy?  Canada?  Spain?  America?  Felucca?  Papyrus?  Tourism is a very important industry in Egypt.  Egyptians are very happy to see a tourist.  They are warm and friendly.  Sure, most want to sell you something, but they politely take "no" for an answer (most of the time).
